Start of Squirrel Damage Repair Project
We began this squirrel damage repair project in Huntersville with a complete attic inspection. Finding any potential electrical wire damage is a very important concern. When customers request an inspection, our first and foremost consideration is the safety of the family. When dealing with squirrel damage repair, there is always the potential of bare electrical wires causing a attic fire. The picture to the right shows where a squirrel had chewed electrical wires in the attic near one entrance hole. The picture also shows one of the six live traps the customer placed in the attic for over two months. He was never able to catch a squirrel in the traps he had set, although the traps were set off. This usually happens when a pre-trapped squirrel is set free and they now know not to do it again.
Next Steps In Completing Squirrel Damage Repair Project
Next, was to complete a very thorough exterior inspection to find all access holes and gaps around the home. The customer had troubles with squirrels for over four years. He had tried to keep them out of his attic. Unfortunately, the squirrels either went around his attempts or chewed a new hole in a different area. This only created the need for more squirrel damage repair. It also shows that a very determined, smart squirrel can figure out just about any problem they run into. This includes chewing a new hole around his blockade, through an entire 1/2″ wood roof sheet and shingles.
Squirrels Can Easily Gain Access Into Your Home
The picture to the left shows the ability of squirrels to chew through just about anything. The lower part of this hole shows where the squirrel chewed away a large part of the aluminum rain gutter. By doing so, it widened his hole to get in and out easier. When we find these types of squirrels, we discuss why it needs to be removed from the property, permanently. As you can imagine, the customer was more than happy for this to occur. He mentioned he had been trying to do this. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful at squirrel damage repair since the squirrel had gotten too smart for his attempts at squirrel damage repair.
Squirrel Damage Repair Common Mistakes
The picture to the right shows an access point to the attic from the soffit on the home. After showing the customer this picture, he finally understood. how the squirrels were still getting into his attic. We want to show this picture to others, so they can see this very common entrance point on a home. Most builders who install vinyl soffits on homes, do it incorrectly. They usually don’t install a bracket that will keep the soffit secured to the shingles. Without this area being permanently secured properly, it can also lead to large animals to gain access.
